Prof. A. W. Mwang'ombe is a former Dean, Faculty of Agriculture, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi. She is the current Principal, the College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences. She is the current Chairman of The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), Board member of Kenya's Vision 2030 Project and a consotium in the Board of CGIAR. Prof. A. W. mwang'ombe is a specilaised in Agriculture but subspecialised in plant pathology with emphasis on plant resistance to diseases, pathogen specialization, seed borne pathogens and diseases. In addition, actively involved in action research and Agricultural development projects. Incorporates Participatory Rural Approach in field research and agricultural technology transfer targeting rural women farmers through their women groups. She has published widely.

Prof. Kimani Waithaka

Prof. Kimani Waithaka is a Kenyan National, educated in theUnited   States of Americaat theUniversityofWisconsin,Madison. Majoring in Horticulture, he graduated with a PhD in 1976.

Currently, Prof. Kimani Waithaka is a Full Professor teaching Horticulture and Biotechnology in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

He has supervised over fourty (40) postgraduate students in areas of plant physiology, horticulture and biotechnology.

He is a member of various international scientific societies including: International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS), American Society for Horticultural Science, International Association for Plant Biotechnology

Prof.Ratemo Waya Michieka,BSc, MSc, PhD

Professor Michieka was born in Kisii County, Nyanza Province in 1950. After his early education in Kisii High School, Prof Michieka worked briefly at Barclays Bank, Queensway in Nairobi, before he proceeded to Rutgers University, United States for further studies in Agriculture and Environmental Sciences in 1970. He obtained his BSc, MA, and PhD specializing in Weed Science and Environment. He got a Postdoctoral post at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) prior to his appointment at the University of Nairobi as a lecturer in 1980. He was appointed the Principal of the Jomo Kenyatta University College of Agriculture and Technology, JKUCAT, where he became her Founding Vice Chancellor when the college was elevated into a full-fledged public university in 1994.  In 2006, Ratemo was appointed the Director General of the National Environment Management Authority, NEMA, where he was in charge of the overall mandate of a clean and healthy environment for the country. He is a Professor in the Department of Plant Science and Crop protection, College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences, University of Nairobi. He is also currently serving as the Chairman of Council, Kenyatta University.

Dr. Fina Opio is a Ugandan. She is married with two children. She holds a Ph.D in Plant Pathology from Sokoine University of Agriculture, Morogoro, Tanzania; a Masters of Science in Crop Science from Nairobi University - Kenya; and Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Makerere University - Uganda. She is highly knowledgeable in plant pathology, bacteriology, participatory agricultural research, technology development and dissemination, rural development and Gender issues. Read more.

Prof Patrick  Olweny Ayiecho

Professor Patrick Olweny Ayiecho is a holder of BSc. Agriculture (University of Nairobi), MSc. Plant Breeding (University of Nairobi) and PhD Genetics (University of California, Davis). He taught at the University of Nairobi from 1981 to 30th November 2000 during which time he had risen to position of Associate Professor. Thereafter he joined Maseno University as Full Professor until 2002, when he joined politics, becoming the Member of Parliament for Muhoroni constituency. He served Muhoroni constituency for two full terms up to the last 2012/2013 General Elections.  He served as an Assistant Minister for Basic Education during 2008-2013 parliamentary term.  Professor Ayiecho rejoined the Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection in May 2013. Professor Ayiecho is an accomplished scientist with many papers published in international refereed journals.  He has written several books and coordinated many crop improvement research projects. He has also successfully supervised many Masters and PhD students.

Prof. Eunice Mutitu is a full professor of the Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection and is currently the Director of Board of Post graduate Studies of the University of Nairobi. She previously served as the Chairman of the Faculty of Agriculture Post graduate studies committee and the founding Chairman of the Department of Crop Protection. She has served the University of Nairobi for several years where she is an active member of staff.
