Overview

The Department of Plant Science & Crop Protection has an examination coordinating team with Drs. J. A. Ambuko,W. M. Muiru  and  section heads are members. The chairman of the Department who is the chief examiner works closely with the team. The Department handles very many examinations since members of the Departments teach numerous service courses for other progrmames in the University. All the examinations are internally and externally moderated in line with the Universities ISO standards. Some of the undergraduate and postgraduate progrmammes are taught for the three semesters and exams have to be offered at the end of every semester.

Responsibilities

  • Collect exam manuscripts,
  • Organize for moderation,
  • Collect marked scripts
  • Organize external examination
  • Prepare summaries of departmental examinations for meetings,
  • Submit marks and summary sheets to the dean’s office.

Dr. Maina Muiru, PhD(UoN), MSc(UoN), BSc(UoN)

I obtained my PhD degree in Plant Pathology in 2008 from the University of Nairobi. I have been involved in teaching, research and outreach activities in crop protection. I am currently the head of the Plant Pathology Unit of the Department. Read more about Dr. Maina Muiru.

Felister Mbute Nzuve is a Lecturer of Plant Breeding and Biotechnology at the Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection, University of Nairobi. She guides students on the aspects of plant breeding, molecular genetics and biotechnology.Her current research focuses on combating the threat posed by the maize lethal necrosis (MLN) disease through identifying sources of resistance and deploying them for use by the small scale farmers in the rural livelihoods;most affected by the MLN menace.
