Professor Michieka is a member of staff at the University of Nairobi and has specialized in Agriculture (Weed Science) and Environmental Sciences. He obtained his BSc, MA, and PhD in Weed Science and Environment from Rutgers University, USA. He went for a Postdoctoral training at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) prior to his appointment at the University of Nairobi as a lecturer in 1980. He later became the Founding Vice Chancellor of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where he served for 13 years.  Prof Michieka was later appointed the Director General of the National Environment Management Authority, NEMA, where he articulated the dangers of environmental pollution and natural resources degradation. Prof. P.M. Kimani

Prof. P. M. Kimani received both an M. Sc. in Agronomy and PhD in Genetics and Plant Breeding from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in a record three and half years in July 1983. He has extensive research and teaching experience in genetics and plant breeding, agronomy, seed science and technology which he has taught to both undergraduate and graduate students in the last 29 years. His major interests include teaching, variety development, agronomy of both field and horticultural crops and technology transfer among smallholder farmers. Read more

Dr. R.D. Narla, Ph.D (Osmania University) M.Sc.(Banaras Hindu University);B.Sc (AP Agric University)

Dr. Rama D. Narla has been an academic member of staff for the last twenty six years in the Department of plan Science and Crop Protection. Dr. Narla holds a PhD in Microbiology from Osmania University, Hyderabad, India and an MSc in Mycology and Plant Pathology from Barnaras Hindu University and BSc in Agriculture from Andhra Pradesh Agricultural University in India.

Since joining the University in 1989, Dr. Narla has actively engaged in research, student training and outreach in key areas of Plant Pathology, Virology and general crop protection.Read more

Prof. John Kimenju, PhD (UoN) MSc (UoN) BSc (UoN)

Prof Kimenju holds a Ph.D Crop Protection (1998), M.Sc. Plant Pathology (1991) and   B.Sc. Agriculture (1987) from the University of Nairobi. Dr. Margret Jesang Hutchinson

Dr. Margaret Jesang Hutchinson is a Horticulturalist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Nairobi with over 30 years experience in the Agriculture sector. She obtained her PhD in Horticulture from the University of Guelph in Canada and MSc. in Agronomy and BSc. Agriculture from the University of Nairobi. Her research and outreach work cover most areas of Horticulture and more so Floriculture, from policy to programming and the entire value chain of several commodities. Some of these include: Development of tissue culture protocols for several economically important floriculture and fruit crops; optimizing the agronomic and pest control practices of fruits, vegetables and flower crops, reducing postharvest loses of horticultural crops (cut-flowers, fruits and vegetables); gender mainstreaming in policy and programming just to name a few.
