On 29th July 2022, the Faculty of Agriculture hosted a virtual workshop to share the findings of a study on Food Quality Management and Loss Assessment in Value Chains linked to the Homegrown School Meals Program (HFSMP). The study was funded through a collaborative agreement between the University of Nairobi and the United Nation’s Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The University of Nairobi research team led by Prof.
A consortium of the Technical University of Denmark, University of Nairobi, Chuka University, Africa Centre for Technology Studies, Kenya Bureau of Standards, and East African Grain Council is awarding a three-year Ph.D. scholarship in Food Safety and related discipline. The scholarship is available for students of all nationalities and will be undertaken in one of the partner academic institutions in Kenya.
The research area of focus
Dr. Juliana Cheboi (UoN) in collaboration with KALRO team(Dr. Keziah Magiroi and Dr. Mary Koech) are transforming and impacting communities through promotion of technologies on integrated soil fertility management, water harvest(Zai pits,sunken beds and ridges) and improved varieties of green grams and tomatoes). The team is excited with the success stories from some of the farmers in Kaloyatum and Lomut in West Pokot who have moved from earning hundreds to millions of money after adopting the technologies
We are pleased to announce the official launch of the UoN Foundation to be held on Thursday, 30th June 2022 at the Chancellor’s Court from 5:30 pm. As a prelude to the launch, the UoN Foundation board of trustees will be hosting a dinner to raise the foundation’s seed capital at the Great Court on June 23, 2022.

On 25th to 27th May 2022, key stakeholders in the Horticulture sector from three Eastern Africa Countries (Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia) convened at the Hermosa Garden Hotel in Karen for a regional horticulture consultative workshop.
The Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection under the leadership of Prof. James Muthomi and Prof. Florence Olubayo joined the University Community and its Partners which included Equity Group Foundation,County Government, National Government, Shamba Café, Loresho Community and Association of Green champions in marking a tree planting Ceremony which was officiated by The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama.During the ceremony more than 4000 seedlings were planted.
