TRAINING ON LEVERAGING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) TO ADVANCE RESEARCH IN ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS FOR FACULTY MEMBERS, ICT STAFF, LIBRARIANS, POST- GRADUATE STUDENTS, PEER- REVIEWERS AND ADMINISTRATORS, 2ND APRIL 2025

The Library and Information Services, in collaboration with the University of Witwatersrand, South Africa, has organized online training on leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to advance research in academic institutions on 2^nd April, 2025. The training targets faculty staff, researchers and research administrators, peer reviewers, librarians, ICT staff, and students.

 AI has gained prominence in the 21^st Century in all spheres of human activities, including research activities in academic institutions.

The main objective of the training will be to guide the participants on issues related to AI in matters of research activities with emphasis to an academic (University) setup where one of the core and cornerstone activities is conducting research, data mining, storage, and dissemination of research outputs. In addition, the training will also include the enlisted specific areas:

 1. AI application in academic and research institutions

2. Examples of AI generated research metrics

3. Benefits and limitations of AI in research activities

4. Benefits of AI in library databases.
