CNI-UoN Mental Health Challenge 2021

 The UoN Office of the Dean of Students and Career Services in partnership with the Institute of Creative and Innovative Ideas (CNI Ideas) wishes to invite all students to participate in an innovation challenge dubbed ‘CNI-UON Innovation challenge’.

 The purpose of the challenge is to discover, encourage and promote creative and innovative ideas among the student population through funding, mentorship, internship opportunities and partnership linkages among others.

 The Mental Health Challenge will run from November 8th – 18th 2021. Students are invited to participate by suggesting innovative ways to curb the rise of mental health related vices in our society today.

 The Winner of this challenge will be awarded Kshs. 100,000 and be linked to partnership programs through CNI Models.

 Students are requested to be part of this noble course that would help create a culture of creative thinking among the young people.To submit your idea, send it to WhatsApp no 0728999444 in the following methods;

 -A write up of 700 words.

-A voice note 

-A video of less than 3 minutes.

-A summarized attachment document.

 A text message with user ID “CNI-ideas: will be sent to your personal numbers to give more information and updates of the challenge. To complete the participation process, kindly note there is a small eligibility fee of Ksh. 30 bob at the end required for your idea to be eligible for analysis.

 Ideas will be analyzed using the following criteria:

 Practicability of the idea,

  • Clarity of the Idea,
  • Creativity and Innovativeness of the idea
  • Magnitude of population to be positively impacted
  • Potential of the idea to solve the problem.

 The problem-statement for the challenge reads as follows:

 “In recent years, mental health cases have been on the increase posing a national concern due to its effects in our society. This has led to depression, anxiety, substance abuse, violence, suicide and homicide. Childhood trauma,, Stressful events, societal challenges, negative thoughts, Drug & Alcohol Abuse  and lack of treatment of mental health problems have been some of the major causes. Creatively and innovatively identify an intervention measure that can be used to mitigate the vice”.

 Students are welcome to submit ideas on how to innovatively deal with the Mental Health problems young people are facing.

 The deadline for receiving applications is Thursday November 18, 2021.
