TRAINING FACULTY STAFF, POST GRADUATE STUDENTS AND RESEARCHERS ON ORCID, GOOGLE SCHOLAR AND OTHER RESEARCH TOOLS THAT MEASURE VISIBILITY, PERFORMANCE AND IMPACT

Good morning,

The Department of Library and Information Services has organized for online training on ORCID, Google Scholar Citation and other tools that measure research visibility and impact. The training is scheduled on the 30th March, 2022.

ORCID is a system that provides persistent digital identifiers that distinguish researchers from each other hence connecting researchers to their research activities, while Google Scholar supports authors to set up a profile page that lists their publications and citation metrics.

The aim of the training is to:

·Sensitize researchers on tools to measure research visibility, performance and impact

·Support researchers to register and use research visibility tools including and not limited to Orcid and Google Scholar to

showcase their research and enhance university visibility, ranking and collaboration.

At the end of the training, participants will have knowledge on how to register and manage their Orcid and Google Scholar accounts and other research performance tools. Some of the terms that will be discussed and demonstrated include: Orcid ID, metrics, social media/altmetrics, citation, H-Index, dimensions, Google Scholar and impact factor

The training targets Faculty members, Administrative staff, Post-Graduate Students and Researchers. Below is the link for the training session:
