Mark your calendars for the 5th All Africa Postharvest Congress & Exhibition (5th AAPHCE), a hybrid event which is scheduled for 16th to 19th September 2025 at the African Union Headquarters, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The AAPHCE is a biennial event hosted by the African Union Commission (AUC), in collaboration with a consortium of research/academic institutions, development partners, civil society and private sector organizations. The University of Nairobi was the host of the inaugural AAPHCE in 2017 and continues offer technical support to the AUC in subsequent AAPHCE convenings.
The theme of the 5th AAPHCE is ‘Securing the Harvest: Postharvest Management Solutions for Resilient and Inclusive Food Systems’. The theme has been unpacked into five subthemes focusing on various aspects of postharvest management towards food loss and food waste reduction including:
- Food loss and waste in numbers
- Innovative solutions to address food loss and waste
- Training, capacity strengthening and community engagement/outreach approaches
- Governance, institutional frameworks, policy interventions, strategies and partnerships
- Innovative and effective strategies for communication, awareness creation and knowledge sharing
Please send your abstracts, book your slot to host a side event or a dedicated plenary session to showcase initiatives and activities in postharvest management towards food loss and food waste reduction.
Students are especially encouraged to send their abstracts and participate in this important event that promises international exposure and networking opportunities with fellow students and researchers.
