The Director, Library and Information Services has organized for online training on Increasing Research Visibility - ORCID, Google Scholar & others Impact tools. The training is scheduled on the 31st March, 2023 from 10.00 am to 12.00 pm.
ORCID is a system that provides persistent digital identifiers that distinguish researchers from each other hence connecting researchers to their research activities, while Google Scholar supports authors to set up a profile page that lists their publications and citation metrics. In addition, other tools that increase visibility of research including social metrics and impact factor tools will be discussed.
The aim of the training is to:
·Sensitize researchers on tools to measure research visibility, performance and impact
·Promote research to increase citation.
·Support researchers to register and use research visibility tools including and not limited to Orcid and Google Scholar.
·Showcase research to enhance university visibility, ranking and collaboration.
At the end of the training, participants will have knowledge on how to register and manage their Orcid and Google Scholar accounts and other research performance tools. Some of the terms that will be discussed and demonstrated include: Orcid ID, metrics/altmetrics, social media tools, citation, H-Index, Google Scholar and impact factor. The training targets Post-Graduate Students & Researchers.
