Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on Study Findings – Homegrown School Meals Program

On 29th July 2022, the Faculty of Agriculture hosted a virtual workshop to share the findings of a study on Food Quality Management and Loss Assessment in Value Chains linked to the Homegrown School Meals Program (HFSMP). A consortium of the Technical University of Denmark, University of Nairobi, Chuka University, Africa Centre for Technology Studies, Kenya Bureau of Standards, and East African Grain Council is awarding a three-year Ph.D. scholarship in Food Safety and related discipline. The scholarship is available for students of all nationalities and will be undertaken in one of the partner academic institutions in Kenya.

Dr. Juliana Cheboi (UoN) in collaboration with KALRO team(Dr. Keziah Magiroi and Dr. Mary Koech) are transforming and impacting communities through promotion of technologies on integrated soil fertility management, water harvest(Zai pits,sunken beds and ridges) and improved varieties of green grams and tomatoes). The team is excited with the success stories from some of the farmers in Kaloyatum and Lomut in West Pokot who have moved from earning hundreds to millions of money after adopting the technologies
