ACADEMIC TOUR BY KARIMA GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL

On 5th of October 2022. A group of students from Karima Girls High School  from Nyandarua county, Nyandarua South Sub-County visited the Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection for an academic tour. Their area of interest were tissue culture,milking machine,livestock breeds,farm tools, equipment and machinery  and livestock management practices. They were received by the Head of the Department Prof. James Muthomi , Chief Technologist Mr. Willy Chebii and Technologists from the Department.

The Head of the Department Prof. James Muthomi, welcomed the students and introduced them to all the programmes offered in  the department then handed them to the Chief Technologist Mr. Willy Chebii together with  his Technologists who moved them around to various laboratories in the faculty.The students were happy to learn a lot in various sections/units .

Students were taught on diagnostics of plant diseases which attack crops of agricultural importance.The main disease pathogens found on were viruses,nematodes, fungui and bacteria. They also learnt on weeds;their impact on agriculture and their management.
