A team of plant breeders from Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Senegal, Benin, Ethiopia, Uganda, and Kenya, led by Dr. Juliana Cheboi, paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Moses Nyangito, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, and Prof. James Muthomi, Chair of the Department of Plant Science and Crop Protection at the University of Nairobi.
The delegation held productive discussions on opportunities for collaboration in plant breeding, scientific research, innovation, and capacity building aimed at strengthening agricultural development across Africa. As part of the visit, the team toured the University's Pilot Plant, the Kantaria Innovation Centre (KATIC), and the Seed Processing Unit (SEMIs), where they witnessed cutting-edge innovations that are advancing agricultural transformation and supporting sustainable food production.
The visit underscored the shared commitment of African scientists and institutions to foster strategic partnerships that enhance crop improvement, promote climate resilience, and strengthen food security across the continent.
"Together, we are cultivating partnerships that will shape the future of resilient crops and sustainable food systems across Africa."
